The Luddenden Foot Community Centre was built in 1914 by public subscription as a Mechanics Institute, later becoming The Luddenden Foot Civic Institute. In 2005, the Luddenden Foot Community Association (LCA) was set up to manage the building with the objective of retaining and refurbishing the building for continued use by the wider community. The LCA became a PLC in August 2009 and in February 2018, Calderdale MBC awarded a 125 year lease to the association. We are now a registered charity and in September 2018 the building was re-named “The Luddenden Foot Community Centre.”
The Community centre is currently home to many community groups including Brownies, Rainbows, Girl Guides, Boxercise, BeYOUtiful Minds, Yoga, Pilates, Badminton, Dance classes, the United Reformed Church, Luddenden valley 0-5 stay and play, the Chatty Café, Ladies Night and two football clubs. We also host three community events throughout the year and are making great strides in renovating the building with a view to hiring out more rooms for community groups. The centre relies on its invaluable volunteers and we are always looking to recruit more.
Free Cookery Club held at Luddendenfoot Community Association for people interested in finding ways to feed their families healthily on a shoe string. Cookery demonstrations with discussion and eating the dishes. Financed by CFFC via the School Holiday Food Support project.
